What is Natural Parenting?

The term "Natural Parenting" means different things to everyone who reads it. Mainly it is a term that takes child rearing back to a more "old fashioned" way of parenting. Parents will wear their child in a sling or baby carrier. Parents will co-sleep instead of putting the baby in their own crib. Mothers won't worry about cutting their children off from breastfeeding by a specific date but let the baby decide when they are ready to wean. Parents may use cloth diapers. There are so many facets to natural parenting that it can feel overwhelming when looking into it. Sometimes it is also referred to as Attachment Parenting. I found that I just fell into this style of parenting without really thinking about it. Am I a hippie that lives off the land in the woods somewhere? No. I am a teacher that looks basically like everyone else. I wear jeans and t-shirts most of the time. I just started parenting my children in this fashion because it just seemed right. I have many people asking me about natural childbirth, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, etc. so I wanted to start a blog where you could find the answers to most of your questions in an easy to access manner. I am always available to answer your questions. If you have any specific topics you would like me to talk about, please ask. Jaki
